Ooh Baby Baby!

Taylor was a month early and he was a Fighter!

Please indulge me some memories as my son, my only child turns 21 today.  He was so tiny that I remember being afraid that he would fly out of my hands like a slippery bar of soap during his first baths.  I remember beautiful moments of calm in the middle of the night
(and some not so calm moments)!  Guess I'd better not embarrass him with any more memories.

If I only knew then what I know now!

What I Do know, is that babies desire a Slow pace, and that is often not how things go during labor, delivery and the moments following birth.  Some babies settle into their own pace without difficulty.  Other babies need some help to slow down and sometimes to 're-tell' the story of their birth.  This may be include cries, heat release from the head, movement or stillness.  I always give a verbal or non-verbal apology to the baby for anything they experienced during or after their birth.
This can be very soothing to their nervous systems.

The slowing process is important for all ages.
Together, we can effect this by creating an atmosphere and intention to help your body slow down to allow calmness and balance through the Long Tide
Primary Respiration (1°) , the slow rhythm of healing and restoration.  This is a way to calm the tissues and nervous system at any age.

Here are just a few photos from my gallery of babies:

Spotlight on Two Special People

Xander-Age 3

"I started seeing Sari about 15 years ago, before I could even drive myself to my appointments.  At the time, I had just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and was in horrible pain day in and day out. Once I started seeing Sari, life became enjoyable again and my pain and discomfort was greatly reduced. Over the years, I have had a few minor surgeries and injuries and she always has the most helpful advice for me on how to take care of myself. I have always had such a great respect for Sari and it has just grown over the years that I have known her. I love that I can walk into her office, lay down on her table and she always knows right where to start to help me feel better even when I don’t even know what hurts the most myself!

I was fortunate enough to also have her along my side during my pregnancy with my son, helping keep my body happy as I grew a life in my belly.  Sari was an amazing coach to have during my labor and delivery as well.  She helped to keep me calm and the pace slow. She was able to work on my son right after he was born to work with his shoulder that had been slightly dislocated during delivery.  My son, Xander is now 3 years old and Sari has continued to be a part of  his birthdays and our milestone celebrations. It has taken me a number of years to feel like I knew what I wanted to be when I 'grew-up' but I have finally decided on the field of Occupational Therapy. Sari has been such a great mentor to me over the years in all aspects of my life including personal, academic, and in my career. I know that physically I would have struggled without her and her amazingly talented hands, her intuition, and her incredibly caring nature. Xander and I are so blessed to have her in our lives and plan on keeping her around for a really long time."      Launa

Sari's note:  Xander seems to be a 'Southpaw', like me, so I look forward to teaching him things like
tying his shoelaces!
